APC appoints ex-Gov Dariye, jailed for corruption, as member, Campaign Council

Former Plateau state governor, Senator Jashua Dariye, currently serving a 12 year jail term for corruption has been appointed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Plateau state alongside 48 others.
Dariye was convicted in June 2018, for embezzling N1. 1 billion ecological fund belonging to Plateau state and sentenced to 14 years imprisonment. The jail term was later reduced to 12 years.
The 49 member Campaign Council which was constituted on Sunday in Jos, is to work for the re-election of Governor Simon Lalong in the forth coming general elections.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, Mark Longyen, said Lalong himself will chair the Campaign Council, with his deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, as deputy chairman.
The statement named Pam Dung Gyang as the Director-General of the council, with Jurbe Gonzuk as his deputy while Prof. Garba Sharubutu is to serve as the secretary.
Members of the Campaign Council include the state chairman of the APC, Letep Dabang, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Joshua Madaki and Solomon Dalung, minister of sports.
Also on the council, are three former deputy governors of the state – Jethro Akun, Pauline Tallen and Ignatius Longjan.
Other members include Senator D.B Zang, Senator Timothy Adudu, three former ministers, Dasuki Nakande, Bagudu Hirse, Jonah Madugu and Samuel Mafuyai
Also include in the list are APC members in the House of Representatives, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Liberia,James Dimka, Director General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Joseph Ari and that of the Nigerian Television Authority
(NTA), Yakubu Mohammed,
Senator Victor Lar, Senator Satty Gogwim, former Clerk of the National Assembly, Umaru Sani, former secretaries to the state government, Sylvanus Lot, John Gobak, Kevin Kwaplong and Rufus Bature among several others.
