Again armed bandits invade Kaduna community, killing 27

Armed bandits have reportedly killed 27 when they invaded Gwaska village, Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.
The hoodlums were said to have set many houses ablaze during the attack which occurred on Saturday at about 2:30pm.
Many of those killed were said to be those who dared the gunmen as well as women and children who could not escape.
The attacked came 48 hours after the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris and the General Officer Commanding ( GOC), 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Mohammed visited Birnin Gwari on Thursday.
The IGP, had during the visit, ordered for the
immediate deployment of additional 200 police personnel to Birnin Gwari area to tackle the increasing activities of armed bandits who are invading communities killing, kidnapping and robbing people .
A sources within the Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance who pleaded anonymity said the gunmen came in from the neighbouring Zamfara state.
“The armed bandits came from neighbouring Zamfara state and encircled Gwaska up to neighbouring Kuiga village shooting sporadically”.
The source said most of those who were killed, were those who put up spirited efforts to defend the community as well as children and women who could not escape.
He added that several people who were injured were taken to the hospital in Doka district.
“We would continue to appeal to the authorities to take urgent steps to forestall further attacks and extinction of communities in Birnin Gwari local government area” he said.
A combined team of soldiers and members of the local vigilante group were said to have rushed to the village when the incident occurred, but by the time they arrived the community, the bandits had fled.
A sources from the vigilante group said “we were in Gwaska together with the military around 7:00pm, but the commander asked the soldiers to retreat because it was getting dark.
He said several people were still missing adding that arrangements were being made to evacuate more people who sustained injuries from gunshots.
When contacted, Aliyu Mukhtar, spokesman of the Kaduna state police command promised to get the details and get back.
