The 1 Division of the Nigerian Army Kaduna has denied allegations of  involvement of its personnel in the demolition of the factional office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna on Tuesday.
Soldiers from the Division were alleged to have provided security for the Kaduna state Urban Planning and Development Agency which pulled down the building at about 4am on Tuesday.
Eye witness said the soldiers who were well armed blocked the two entrances to the building located at Sambo Road while the demolition  was going on.
But spokesman of the Division, Colonel Muhammad Dole, debunked the allegations saying no Nigerian Army soldier was involved in the exercise.
“The allegation and the attempt to drag the Nigerian Army into the issue of demolition is yet another baseless and unsubstantiated claim to malign the hardworking, loyal and professional officers and soldiers of 1 Division Nigerian Army and discredit them” Dole said.
He described the allegations as   mischievous and misleading, adding that it is a calculated attempt to distract  troops from performing their professional duties.
“Therefore, the public should disregard such false allegation.
The troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army will continue to remain apolitical and non-partisan in the discharge of their constitutional roles.
“Presently our troops are dutifully engage in excercise  AYEM AKPATUMA (Cat race ) in Niger and Kaduna states, combating Kidnappings, cattle  rustling, armed banditry and terrorism” Dole said.
